Been there M35 double decal Luftwaffe steel helmet. Received a extra layer of grey/blue paint to cover the glossy M35 pattern coating. This is something I have observed a lot with these early Luftwaffe helmets and was actually a ‘first pattern’ type of camouflage. Both decals were painted around, although the German in question painted parts of the rims of the decals as well. The black part of the tricolor shield was even a bit touched up to look good again during this process. The helmet is complete with its early reinforced aluminum liner and draw string. The reverse of the liner is unit marked (a couple of times) to II/Flakregiment 43 8-Battr. This unit was part of Regiment General Göring in 1942 and saw many action in Russia. The rear of the helmet shows the name Behne. Maker marked by EF, size 62. Lot number 3662. Beautiful UNTOUCHED M35 double decal steel helmet, that definatley saw a lot of combat action! Dated 1938.
