Straight from USA – a honest and very rare wintercamo helmet. Started its life as a double decal Luftwaffe M35 helmet that was camouflaged using white wash. The white paint shows combat damaged and is very fragile of peeling of, this was of course done like this because it would be easy te remove once the winter was over. Therefor it is so hard to find wintercamo helmets in this condition. This particular example was brought back by American GI ‘Van Morts’ who carved his initials on the back and painted his name inside. Of course the man did not knew back than what a rare white camo he had captured, but he was probably dissapointed it did not have a swastika so he painted one on the side. The white swastika is actually the genuine white paint where he painted around with black. On this same spot the luftwaffe eagle is still visible as well. The liner is well worn but remains complete. Its an early aluminum example, matching with this type of helmet, dated 1939. The chin strap is present but the tip is broken off. A very nice and original white wash helmet with a extra veteran touch to it!
